Visa for Spouse or Child of Japanese National living in the Philippines (Temporary Visit)

PURPOSE

Purpose is temporary visit in Japan of Spouse/Child (including special adopted child) of a Japanese National living in the Philippines who has a long-term visa status (more than 6 months or over valid visa ) and who submits a report of residency (Zairyu Todoke) at the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines. Applicants for this type of visa(multiple) are not permitted to stay in Japan totally for more than (6) months within one (1) year. If applicants wish to stay for longer period of time, it is necessary to obtain a certificate of eligibility and apply under the visa with Certificate of Eligibility.

→If the Japanese Spouse / Parent of the applicant stays in the Philippines as a temporary visitor, this type of visa is not available.

NOTICE

  1. Original Documents
    • All documents issued/prepared in the Philippines must be original except those specifically stated ”photocopy" or "copy".
    • A photocopy of documents issued/prepared in Japan is acceptable. However, the Embassy of Japan will request the submission of the original document, if it is necessary for inspection.
    • The submitted documents cannot be returned. If you want, submit it with its photocopy and request of return.
  2. Validity of documents
    • All documents must be issued within 3 months (only for Birth/Marriage Certificate, 1 year) from the date of application.
  3. Size of documents, Translation, etc.
    • All documents must be in A4 size. Documents of other size must be copied (reduced/enlarged) into A4 and submitted with the original. However, a document of regal size (or almost same as A4 size) is acceptable and no need for photocopy.
    • Never staple documents. Issuance receipt of certificate is not necessary and must be removed.
    • As of documents issued/prepared in other language than English or Japanese, the translation in English or Japanese is required (the date of translation, translator’s name and signature is necessary).
    • Depending on the content of application, additional documents may be required through the Friendship Tours and Resorts Corp.
      If you fail to submit within 1 month from the date of request by the embassy, the application will be terminated.
  4. Please prepare type written application form with a handwritten signature
    ( not acceptable E-Signature )
  5. The applications after April 7, 2025, need to provide 2 sets of original authorization letters to Friendship Tours and Resorts Corporation Manila or Cebu Branch where you file the application.

REQUIREMENTS

All documents must be original unless otherwise stated "photocopy"

1. PASSPORT

  • Broken passport is not accepted.
  • Passports must be signed (above 13 years old ) and must have at least two (2) blank visa pages

2. Colored Photocopy of passport ( Identification page )

  • If the applicant holds a used Japan visa, please submit a colored photocopy of Used Japan Visa and Landing permit colored photocopy and original passport with the used visa.

3. Visa Application Form

  • Please prepare typed application form ( the form is available at our website )
  • Signature must be handwritten signature ( not acceptable E signature )
  • Application form should be filled out all items correctly, If item is not applicable, please fill in [N/A].
  • For “Date of application”, fill in the date of submission to the Friendship Tours and Resort Corporation

4. Photo

  • Specs: 4.5cm x 3.5cm(2x1.4 inch), with white background.
  • Photo must be taken within 6 months.
  • Please write applicant’s name and birthdate on back side of the photo.
  • Photo must be pasted on the application form.
  • A photo out of the standard or digitally modified is not acceptable.

5. Birth Certificate

  • IT must be issued within one year from PSA Main Office/Serbilis Outlet Center (Nationwide).
  • If the birth certificate from Philippine Statistics Office (PSA) is unreadable, or has incomplete information, please submit the birth certificate issued by PSA together with a birth certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar.
  • If the birth certificate is “late registration”, please submit in addition, a baptismal certificate and school record (Form 137) from high school or elementary and School Yearbook (if possible). Please add the contact information (landline number) of the church, if possible.
  • If there is no record in PSA, please submit a “Certificate of Non-Record” from PSA together with a birth certificate from the Local Civil Registrar.

6. Marriage Certificate (if the applicant is married)

  • IT must be issued within one year from PSA Main Office/Serbilis Outlet Center (Nationwide).
  • If the marriage Certificate from Philippine Statistics Office (PSA) is unreadable, or has incomplete information, please submit the marriage certificate issued by PSA together with a birth certificate issued by the Local Civil Registrar.
  • In case there is no record in PSA, please submit a “Certificate of Non-Record” from PSA together with the Marriage Certificate from the Local Civil Registrar.

9. Passport copy of the Japanese Spouse/Parent living in the Philippines

  • Please submit a copy of all used pages to confirm that the Japanese Spouse/Parent is living in the Philippines with a long term visa. If the Japanese Spouse/Parent is staying in the Philippines on a short-term visa such as "Tourist", he/ she is not recognized as a long-term resident therefore Spouse/Child cannot apply in this category.

11. Employment Certificate of the main provider of the family

  • Must indicate period of employment, salary and position
  • If unemployed or only receiving pension etc. , submit a written explanation why the main provider cannot submit this requirement.

12. Photocopy of Income Tax Return (BIR form ) or Bank Balance Certificate of the main provider of the family

  • If main provider of the family cannot submit Income Tax Return (ITR), submit a bank balance certificate in lieu of the ITR.
  • Form 2316, must have signature of the Employer and Employee
  • For business owners, proof of actual payment of tax must be submitted in addition to the BIR Tax Payment Certificate Form

  • Validity of Bank Certificate is three (3) months from the date of issue
  • If the Average Daily Balance (ADB) in the last six months is not indicated, bank statements must be submitted to prove transactions within the last 6 months.

【 In case you wish a multiple-entry visa】

👉 Even if you have a multiple - entry visa, you cannot stay in Japan over a half of year in total with a status of " Temporary Visitor " ( You need to obtain a status for a long -term stay )

14. Family Registration(Koseki Tohon) (only if requesting a multiple visa)

  • Must be issued within three months

15. Foreign residents with long-term or permanent status in the Philippines applying for a visa must submit, in addition to the above requirements (except birth and marriage certificates), a copy of their Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) issued by the Philippine government.

  • Visa application of foreigners who are on short-term (temporary) visa in the Philippines cannot be accepted. Please apply at the Japanese Embassy /Consulate General with jurisdiction over the area in which the applicant resides or over the country of which the applicant’s passport was issued
